Institute for Anthropological Research (IAR)

 

is an autonomous and independent research institution which consists of a group

of men and women of science, research and intellect, all of them with international references,

who examine the cultural and social phenomena, processes, practices and problems within

 

the centres of the Institute, the research groups and the department for applicative research.

 

 

The Institute is opening a new space for scientific and research activities, as well as for the reflection of social practices and realities, on the basis of the anthropological cognitive system, and is trying in this way to contribute a fresh analytical approach towards the understanding of modern people living in the Slovenian and wider geographical area. 
 

The IAR would like to become an intellectually potent convergent point of different ways of thinking, as well as a place of research excellence, which would provide a penetrating institutional background for realisation of researches, establishing contacts with other research collectives and individuals, acquiring different kinds of (basic, target-research and applicative) projects as well as for development of anthropological researches and analyses which could be attractive from the market point of view.   
  
 

What are we doing and how do we work? 
 

Our work is based on different short-term and mid-term research projects

which are either of a basic, a target-research or of an applicative kind.

 

Especially the latter enable a faster realisation and dissemination of results and research outcomes

which can be immediately used by the clients and users.

 

Besides the academic research, the Institute's offer also includes applicative services for concrete clients and users. The Institute's aim is to find customers interested in the results of its work among the economic as well as other operators. The way of dissemination of the applicative researches can be adapted to the wishes and needs of clients and users (i.e. expert or valuation reports, presentation movies, maps, CDs, posters, exhibitions, internet or public/closed presentations).  

 

The cooperation between the academic and the applicative stage of research assures more pertinent results as well as a higher level of applicative research.

 

The Institute's researchers present the results of their work on scientific conferences in Slovenia and abroad and assure their recognition within the academic circles by publishing them in Slovenian or foreign periodicals and monographies.  
 

 

As a complement of their research work, some of the collaborators of the Institute also cooperate in the educational programs of different Slovenian and foreign universities and academic institutions.
